The care, guidance and support in our school is excellent and we pride ourselves in knowing every child’s abilities and needs. As this is a small school staff get to know children very well and can easily identify any concerns early.
The staff are experienced and some have specific training for specialised needs for pupils. For instance staff have recently received training in occupational health, speech and language and one member of staff specialises in autism spectrum conditions. We also provide certain training for staff when a need arises eg. a medical need support.
The school can access advice and support from the Local Education Authority and there are staff there who are specially trained in aspects of pastoral /social behaviour and who we can ask for help.
The school works with ‘First Contact’ services and the Education Welfare Officer for safeguarding issues and attendance.
Staff members are trained in First Aid and some have specific training for some specialised areas of medical need. eg. diabetes, asthma, delivering medicines.
Our school is accessible to all users. We have a ramp at the main door, a disabled toilet, the school is all on one level and easily accessed when inside the building. The outside environment is also accessed via ‘The Hive’ entrance’
The curriculum can be modified when needed to suit an individual child’s needs.
If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
