Mr W. Deakin
Chair of Academy Council
I’m Bill and have been an Academy Councillor for 6 years. I was elected to be Vice-Chair in 2020 and then Chair of the Academy Council in October 2021. Currently I am responsible for monitoring Safeguarding at the school and also the Quality of Education across all subjects. Over the years, I’ve monitored a variety of subjects/areas which gives an interesting insight into the workings of the school. My links to the school began in 2013 when we moved into the area and my eldest daughter started at the school. We were very impressed with the welcoming environment from the friendly staff and pupils. It was everything we were hoping for when we chose the school and the village to move to. All of my children have attended the school (one is still there) and this happy, nurturing environment is still evident.

Hi my name is Heather and some of you may have already met me walking my 2 cocker spaniels around Ingleton. I moved into the village during lockdown just over 2 years ago. My background is teaching in particular pupils with SEN. I’ve taught for over 20 years both in England and Scotland. Although I am having a break from being a teacher I am excited to be part of Ingleton Academy Council team.

I am Toni and I am an Academy Councillor for Ingleton C of E Primary School. I have a little girl who is a pupil at the school, and as a parent, I have been bowled over by the environment and the opportunities she has been given at Ingleton. I am an ex-teacher with experience of teaching EYFS, KS1 and KS2 within mainstream provision as well as teaching within Special Education Provision. I was a member of the Senior Leadership Team and have been a SENDCo in my previous teaching roles. I still work within education, currently for Cambridge University in managing the development of assessments for children and young people. I am passionate about equal and personalised education for all and ensuring that all children have access to the best school experience that is available. Within my Early Years Link Councillor role, I want to work with Ingleton to ensure that all children within the Early Years are equipped with the tools they need to be springboarded into their schooling career and that if any intervention is required to support children, they are provided at the earliest possible opportunity.

Hello, having lived in this area all my life and attending this school as a pupil ( in the 1960’s) and then again as a teacher here for 27 years , I have spent half my life at Ingleton CE. Primary. I am keen to work as an Academy Councillor to do whatever I can to support this wonderful place, the fantastic children and staff . I will do my best to help Ingleton CE School continue to flourish, develop and to be an intrinsic part of our local community. My interests are music and science , geography and history. I love to see any opportunities for children to explore new experiences of learning. In my career in education I have worked in both primary and secondary sectors in schools in Teesdale and Weardale. I have been a governor on two school boards, a comprehensive school and a primary. I am now retired but enjoy volunteering with children with Special Educational Needs at Riding for the Disabled, walking , travelling and singing with a local choir. I am a member of local community groups in the village and also a Guide at Raby Castle. I like to pop into Ingleton School to help when I can such as gardening, singing and after school clubs.
